    1. Absolutely - captivating, charming, realistic, funny, romantic and everything!!!Honestly I liked it so much that I am at loss with words, I feel like retelling each episode and tell you how it affected me (like i did to my poor husband) but I don't want to spoil it for you. Well here it is- the book is long (which you are NOT going to notice after you start reading) and it is so "sinfully" interesting and captivating and emotion involving that if you start reading it, it will take all your sleep [...]

    2. Full of quirky characters, romance, and laughs this novel by JoAnn Durgin is also a breath of fresh air because of its unique storyline. This story made me smile, frown, and have a weird-looking mixture of a two. Not only a romance story, this book also talks about the bigger romance between us and God. This book has everything good which makes me urge you to read this.Disclaimer: I only give five stars to good books.

    3. Title: AWAKENINGAuthor: JoAnn DurginPublisher: Torn Veil Books November 2010ISBN: 978-1-926712-56-7Genre: Inspirational/contemporary romanceLexa Clarke signs up for a TeamWork Missions assignment, expecting to be assigned to some faraway, exotic land. But on the way there with handsome blue eyed Sam Lewis, she is accosted by dusty roads, a flat tire, a spitting goat, and more. Not only that, bu [...]

    4. I REALLY wanted to be able to give this book 5 stars, but I can't. So sorryAs a Christian, and a hopeless romantic, I love supporting Christian authors. I applaud their efforts, as writing is no easy task. The main story line was believable. However, I saw too many cliches things that didn't add, plot twists that were questionable and such to be able to fully get behind this book. 3 stars is NOT an indicator that I hated the book. It just means I wasn't swayed from neutral into like or love.Corn [...]

    5. Wow! I enjoyed this book so much. It took me longer to finish than I expected because I was just so busy, but I made sure I read this before falling asleep at night. It just made my sleep that much more pleasant. I quickly fell in love with the characters because there was so much to relate with Lexa and who wouldn't fall in love with Sam? I mean he's a tall, handsome cowboy you don't need much more than that. =) I thought this was very well written. There were quite a few parts in the book that [...]

    6. I so loved this book! Kept you going once you started reading. Good clean romance. A lot of action between Sam and Lexa. Believe both are saved but one of the characters has fallen back due to things in their life. It's a great read can't wait to read the next one. I loved the Godly view in this book.

    7. Spunky adventure. That’s the only way I know how to sum up JoAnn Durgin’s Awakening. Her witty sense of humor shines in the banter between Sam Lewis and Lexa Clarke, two characters I know you’ll love getting to know. This book is a refreshing read that will have you believing TeamWork is a real organization . . . and you’ll want to join their next mission!Lexa Clarke may be running from her past, but it might just catch up to her while she’s helping as a volunteer for a two-month summer [...]

    8. Being more used to suspense or romantic historicals, I wasn’t sure if a Christian romance novel in its truest sense would hold my interest. But I was delighted with the calibre of JoAnn Durgin’s Awakening, and her story’s ability to enthral me with romance alone. And the romance in this contemporary story is Romantic with a capital “R”. I think I even blushed several times—in a good way. But God is the author of romance, and this novel succeeds in delivering kisses as steamy as those [...]

    9. When I won the contest for a free copy of Joann Durgin’s Awakening, I was delighted, of course. And curious. Now I have to buy the next book in the series!I’m not really that much into romance. Rather, I like a touch of romance in a story that is about something else entirely. But Joann’s book enchanted me. In TeamWork, she has created a mini-world that I’d like to visit. I’d especially like to attend one of the bonfires. Maybe they’ll even have Smores for me on the night of my visit. [...]

    10. Loved this book! This was the first book of Ms. Durgin's, and I'm hooked. I'm pretty picky when it comes to reading romance (I'm more of a suspense girl), so I actually waited a short time after receiving this book to start. (Won a free copy of any one of her books, thanks again JoAnn Durgin!Even though it took me longer to read, due to increased work schedule, I had a hard time putting it down. The story pulled me in right away. The characters were awesome, story line totally realistic, and so [...]

    11. Loved this book. I think it's refreshing to read a story where the attraction is definitely there and sizzling, but where the glory and love of God also resides. What made this book wonderful in my humble opinion would be the love of the lead characters, Sam and Lexa, for the Lord, but most importantly, the love of the Lord for them and everybody else. It also showed God's faithfulness in every trial and situation.Oh, and Sam? He was way HOT. Loved him.

    12. I've been reading a lot of mystery and suspense lately so romance was a refreshing change! This had action in it also and very romantic! I'll be recommending this to friends who prefer more than a kiss ;) ( but clean, moral and Christian values. No worries on that! I just meant you don't have to wait until the last page) I'm saying no more! Read it for yourself lol.

    13. My first impression when I read this book was WOW what a great love story! I fell in love with the characters really quickly, was enthralled with the electric chemistry between them and thoroughly enjoyed the witty bantering between the extremely likeable Lexa and Sam!

    14. *All smiles* What a book! Lexa’s adventure with Sam starts in the first few chapters and DOES NOT let up until the last page!! Their car gets a flat tire right when they meet, Lexa has a couple coughing fits in the Texas heat/dust, she tosses a wrench to Sam while assisting him with the flat tire and the wrench accidentally slips and hits Sam in the leg, and Lexa is still in the car when she gets spit on by a goat! I simply loved it :) What do these characters think of one another at first? Le [...]

    15. Awakening – A Romance With Many Twists!JoAnn Durgin’s first published novel was a delight to read. This is a wonderful love story between TeamWork Missions director Sam Lewis and Lexa Clarke a TeamWork Missions volunteer. Lexa has signed up for 8 weeks of mission work in San Antonio, Texas. Little does she know what she is in for. Her desire is to put some meaning into her life by helping out others. She feels something is missing in her life but doesn’t quite know what she is searching fo [...]

    16. Lexa Clarke is a beautiful, petite and feisty young woman who is impulsive, headstrong and in need of change in her life. Looking for a way to heal from a broken relationship, and hoping for some adventure, Lexa volunteers for a summer session in a Christian work camp. Her dream of working in some exotic foreign country is quashed upon discovering she will be helping rebuild homes destroyed by flooding in a remote area of Texas. A tall, dark and handsome cowboy, Sam Lewis is the director of the [...]

    17. Lexa Clark meets her match in Sam Lewis. He's handsome, direct, and god-fearing to the core. From the moment he gives her a ride to the 8-week Team Work Mission camp, Lexa is intrigued by the attractive camp director. Sam immediately notices there is something different about Lexa. Not only is she beautiful, but she is full of "spice". She's also determined to get herself into difficult situations due to her stubborn nature. He wonders what the extent of her relationship with the Lord is, along [...]

    18. JoAnn Durgin has an absolute winner in her first published novel, “Awakenings.”This book has it all: characters you will love, and perhaps identify with, remarkable setting, and a plot that keeps you engrossed from beginning to end and leaves you wanting to read more about Lexa and Sam.Lexa Clarke signs up for a TeamWork Missions summer assignment, dreaming of adventure in a far away, exotic country. However, she’s sent to San Antonio where TeamWork Director Sam Lewis is not sure what to t [...]

    19. It’s 1997, and Lexa Clarke has decided to take the summer off her job as a financial planner to sign up for TeamWorks, a mission rebuilding houses ruined by a flood in Texas. Lexa’s spiritual life has been on hold for years. She’s seeking, but not very hard. She’s here for the humanitarian element.Sam Lewis is the director of TeamWorks. It’s definitely not in his plan to fall for his newest volunteer almost as soon as he picks her up in San Antonio, but she’s so feisty and funny. A f [...]

    20. The last thing Lexa Clarke expects when she signs up for a TeamWork mission project is to fall in love. But she hadn’t counted on the TeamWork director, Sam Lewis, being such a handsome, hard-headed, sexy, frustrating, magnetic, loveable cowboy.Look out, Lewis and Clarke…it’s a whole new adventure, featuring Sam and Lexa in a romantic escapade!I won’t reiterate the entire storyline, as the back cover text lays it out quite well. What I will say is that Awakening is an absolute treat to r [...]

    21. All I had to do was read the blurb for "Awakening" to know that it was going in my must-read pile. I finished this book rather quickly, as I was unable to put it down. The plot is fantastic, the characters memorable, and the scenarios realistic. I could easily see why this has become one of the most popular books in contemporary Christian fiction. JoAnn Durgin takes the reader inside the thoughts, emotions, and lives of Lexa Clarke and Sam Lewis in a way that made me care about the characters an [...]

    22. I wanted to like this book, but I put it down halfway through. It had a lot of potential, and perhaps future books by the author have a better flow and more interactions I'd find more plausible, however this book didn't. I found the emotional responses from the H/h irrational and almost jarring to the storyline. I continually found myself sitting with a quizzical expression on my face trying to understand why a character responded in the way they did. It just didn't ring true to me. It also seem [...]

    25. Sometimes, the Lord sends us on a mission to help others, when God actually plans to do a work in our own life. Lexa’s concept of what this trip would be was not the same as God’s plan, however, God can use us in spite of our preconceived ideas. This book jumps right into an engaging story line that keeps you turning the pages. I enjoyed the obvious attraction of the main characters and watching that attraction grow into a relationship that is filled with romance and passion, as well as humo [...]

    26. GEAR UP FOR AN EXPEDITION. Featuring feisty Lexa Clarke and once-burned Sam Lewis, Ms. Durgin takes you on an incredible expedition of love and healing in AWAKENING. Assigned to a TeamWork Missions summer project in San Antonio, Lexa overcomes emotional barriers from her past while Sam wrestles with forgiveness issues. Ms. Durgin loads the book with humor, ramped up sexual tension, action, and sweet romance. I found the characters to be true to life, charming and witty, with real and emotional s [...]

    27. Awakening is the first in a trilogy that introduces the reader to the TeamWork mission and its memorable characters. I typically read non-fiction, but I found myself drawn in right away to an interesting plot and characters that are vivid and personable-characters who are real, and like someone you’d want to be friends with. I most enjoy reading fiction when it feels like a movie playing in my head, and the author accomplishes that through her writing style. This is a book I would definitely r [...]

    28. It took me a while to get into it but once started, it takes you time to drop it. Good thing it's available on Kindle, so I get to take my iPad with me everywhere, just reading. So far, so good, can't wait to see the end but I think some bits of it are quite predictive which ruins the story a little.

    29. I read this book when it first came out and became friends with all the characters. I felt like I was there with them in the trials and tough times they ran intoIt is set in Texas. It is a Christian love story and easy to read and enjoy. it is still a bit spicy and realistic to real life connections.
