    1. I can't believe so many people liked this book--if not for the details about JFK Jr's life (to include insight into a more private side of Carolyn) which I really did find fascinating, I would have given this one star. I found RoseMarie to alternate between being completely and annoyingly woe is me to being a complete braggart. And also selfish (did she really admit to hoping for a relationship with a fellow mourner and mutual friend while waiting to hear news about JFK Jr and Carolyn??). I coul [...]

    2. When I read excerpts of "Fairytale Interrupted," in People Magazine last week I made a note to check it out. But when I went to earlier this week and read the only six reviews left so far I wasn't too thrilled with what I saw. Almost half were one star reviews, with reasons why the readers didn't like the book. The rest were rave reviews that sounded way to trite for my taste in memoir. So I almost went against all the advice I give to readers about vetting reviews and books and passed on "Fair [...]

    3. This was a free book on my Nook, and I just started reading it. I had never been into the Kennedy thing, but I thought it might be interesting to learn about JFK Jr.Unfortunately, I couldn't get past the voice of RoseMarie Terenzio. She cites in the book that she knew she wasn't as knowledgeable as many of her peers at George, and you can tell that she hasn't done much to improve on that in the 12 years since the tragedy of Kennedy, his wife, and his sister-in-law. Her voice is boring, self-abso [...]

    4. I'm really surprised that some reviewers did not love this book. I loved the details of Rosemarie Terenzio's life and thought they paired wonderfully, contrasting with the life of JFK Jr. The characters are complete opposites, Terenzio born a poor Italian, JFK Jr born wealthy as America's goldenboy. I appreciated the inclusion of both details, because it created a more rounded read and differentiated it from typical Kennedy centric books. It really humanized Kennedy and his wife, making them int [...]

    5. I'm one of those people who has long been fascinated by the Kennedy mystique. Remembering vividly where I was when I learned that President Kennedy was assassinated in 1963, and where I was when I learned that JFK Jr's plane en route to Hyannis had disappeared on the fateful day in July of 1999. Since I haven't read much about JFK Jr's adult life, I couldn't wait to read this memoir, written by his executive assistant, who worked for him during the last (5) years of his life.I had a hard time wr [...]

    6. If you are expecting a book about JFK Jr, you may be disappointed. This book is about Rosemarie Terenzio, how her life was influenced by knowing and working for John Kennedy. It reads as a refreshing and honest memoir. I love the title, Fairy Tale Interrupted, and think that Kennedy would be proud that Terenzio has made her own happily ever after.

    7. Working Girl meets What Remains in this New York Times bestselling, behind-the-scenes story of an unlikely friendship between America’s favorite First Son, John F. Kennedy Jr. and his personal assistant, a blue-collar girl from the Bronx. Featured in the documentary I Am JFK Jr.!From the moment RoseMarie Terenzio unleashed her Italian temper on the entitled nuisance commandeering her office in a downtown New York PR firm, an unlikely friendship bloomed between the blue-collar girl from the Bro [...]

    8. Okay, now the world will know that I am a Kennedy family fangirl. When I was a little girl, I checked out every book I could find on the Kennedys and pored over them like I had to take a test on them the next day. When I went to Boston for the day, the only thing that I did of note was go to the JFK Library. So when I saw this audiobook on the shelf, I had to listen. First of all,it is read by the author and I love RoseMarie's voice, beautiful Bronx accent and in-your-face attitude. Second, Rose [...]

    9. RoseMarie Terenzio was the personal assistant to John Kennedy Jr. in the five years prior to his death. She was with him on the magazine George. This book is a memoir of those times. If you are interested in JFK Jr. this has some details about his life. But overall a so so book. The worst part of this book is her treatment of Kennedy's death. In the work of talented authors you can come to care for the most unlikely of characters and weep at their cruel fate. Not so here. Her treatment is entirel [...]

    10. I found this book so interesting as far as seeing the "real" JFK Jr (& Carolyn). Perhaps not the best written book, but you did feel like you get to know him aside from the face he had to put on at times in front of America. He seemed like a pretty cool guy and Carolyn seemed sweet and kind and to really, really hate being so scrutinized in the public eye and just wanted their private life to be private.Really makes you wonder where he'd be today had that horrible plane crash not happened.

    12. This was the story of two fairy tales that were interrupted. It was the personal and intimate peak into the years of John Kennedy Jr and Caroline Bessette through the years of their meeting, dating, marrying amd early married life told from the perspective of John's personal assistant who became a friend to both. But on a deeper level it was the author's own story of living a fairy tale as doors were opened to a young brash, tough talking girl from the Bronx because John Jr. chose her to be his [...]

    13. I had heard Rose Marie Terenzio, the author and personal assistant to JFK Jr. being interviewed on Siruis XM. I like her candor and sense of humor as she told of her personal experiences in being one of JFK Jr.'s most loyal and trustworthy insider. She was not fazed by his popularity - instead she began an almost like brother relationship with one of America's most famous people. Rose Marie protected JFK Jr. from outsiders wanting in and he in turn, protected her as well. Along with JFK Jr. came [...]

    14. RoseMarie did a FANTASTIC job of writing about her boss, John F Kennedy, Jrmeone she protected, loved and at times argued with and got angry with. but knew better than probably anyone else.I can't imagine a better written book that portrays him & his beautiful Carolyn. I could hardly put it down. I came away feeling like he surely looks down from heaven above and approves of his beloved friend, telling tales on him, in such an unpretentious way. She makes him real. We get to see the non-papa [...]

    15. I won this book as a part of the First Reads Giveaway. It was not at all what I expected. And that is a GREAT thing. Ms. Terenzio tells a platonic love story about her life antagonizing, working for, protecting, and bonding with JFK Jr and Carolyn. while the book goes little into her Pre JFK life, and I would love to know more, her stories of working at Random Ventures and George are enlightening. We get to see a different side of the scion of all things Kennedy, a self-effacing, mostly laid bac [...]

    16. I always love a book about the Kennedy's - this one was good. John's personal assistant of five years wrote the book. If anyone knew him - she did. She gives a good description of her time with him, his relationship with Carolyn, and George magazine. She even hints that he may have been interested in running for public office but offers no details. Carolyn sounds like a fascinating woman - she and John really loved each other but towards the end, the marriage was under strain from the constant p [...]

    17. I like to read a series of books along the same topic. So this was a good compliment to the last book I read, What Remains. This was an interesting memoir, quick read. The thing I took away from both books is the kind, generous spirit of JFK Jr's wife, which never came across in her public persona.

    18. John F. Kennedy Jr. had an extraordinary life. One that was forever in the public eye, until it was tragically cut short by a plane accident in the waters off Martha's Vineyard in July 1999. Leading up to that fateful day, there was much speculation about his marriage to Carolyn Bessette, whom was also lost on that flight, along with her sister, Lauren. And whether the magazine founded by John F. Kennedy Jr 'George', would survive the brutally competitive magazine industry. It took more than 12 [...]

    19. Well since it’s been like at least twenty days since I’ve read something Kennedy-related (is it just me or is there a rash of them lately?) I decided to pick up this memoir by JFK Jr.’s assistant/right-hand gal. It’s interesting how she falls into her position and you have to admire the fact she was not at all star-struck, or so she says. I do wonder if her “whatevs” attitude was really that or she’s playing it up. She did seem to keep her mouth shut and it is clear John and Caroly [...]

    20. I've read a lot of the reviews about this book from other readers. There are very few times I'm on the fence about a book - I usually either love it or hate it, but I find myself agreeing with both the positive and negative reviews on this one. I appreciate RoseMarie sharing her story. I don't criticize her for waiting twelve years to share it - when you lose someone who has been a very big presence in your life, no matter for how long, it takes time to process that loss, especially when it's p [...]

    21. “Fairytale Interrupted” by RoseMarie Terenzio is a memoir of Terenzio’s time working as John Kennedy Jr.’s personal assistant, and her life during and after Kennedy’s plane accident. Terenzio met Kennedy accidentally while working as a PR assistant at a small public relations firm. JFK Jr. came in, took over her office unexpectedly, and caused some hurt feelings for the author. Shortly afterwards, the small firm is sold off, Terenzio is in tears, and JFK Jr. spontaneously offers her th [...]

    22. Rosie writes about her experiences as JFK Jr's assistant, sidekick, confidante, for the last five years of this life. This was a great inside look at John's personality, lifestyle, impecable manners, and character, written by the one who knew him, and also Carolyn, best. She knew every detail, actually arranged most every detail for him, and then them. It also tells what RoseMarie's life was like, how she coped and takes you through her struggles, too.Favorite Quotes:(and these are not even abou [...]

    23. I'm torn about this book. It is well-written, but I did skim over most of the text that was specific to RoseMarie's life and just went straight to the parts about John. I guess I would hope that someone who was as close to John as the author was, and saw firsthand how fame affected him, would have been loyal to him, even after he died, and just not write this book. It's an honest portrayal of John, as he had it in him to be rude and she recounts instances where he berated her in public, as well [...]

    24. This had a great cover and I was curious enough to read all the way through in one day. Her voice feels authentic but it is really mundane writing and even tarnished my image of JFK, Jr, whatever that may have been. She certainly was privy to a rarified world and succeeded in conveying that feeling, just not eloquently. I am curious why she chose to write this book now, 13 years after their death. She certainly does not explain why and I also was curious how verbatim conversations could be inclu [...]

    25. I read this to get a better idea of what Carolyn Bessette was like. Michael Bergin's bitter memoir makes her out to be a dysfunctional and emotionally stunted weirdo who communicated with him through a series of cat meows. The Carolyn described by Rosemarie seems like a smart, down to earth person who was fun and likable and caring. Rosemary herself comes off as immature and bratty at times. However, the fact that she makes herself so vulnerable in this book shows great strength.

    26. It was ok. I have to admit I am a big "celebrity" fan and love to read biography and autobiography about them. But when the author disclosed how John proposed to carolyn I felt their invasion of privacy and felt dirty reading the book. And I have read other memoirs by their "friends". I don't know why this one bothered me so much. Maybe bc the author really was in love John but denies it throughout the book? Who knows

    27. I agree with a lot of the reviewers, I really wanted to like this book and the author. But about half way I was torn, she seemed so oblivious to things and at many points, chasing the fame? I finished the book but was still not too happy with the descriptions and the pointed view of how the author wanted to be portrayed.Overall, it was interesting but probably was not a good use of time and I wouldn't recommend it.

    28. A sure disappointment for any fan of Christina Haag's Come To The Edge. Terenzio's writing resembles that of a high school student's essay for the SAT. Although she does present an interesting viewpoint, most of the dialogue sounded blank and amateur. My copy from the library included quite a few leftover bookmarks from other readers who obviously struggled to make it past the first few chapters. Unfortunately, I would not recommend wasting your time on this poorly written memoir.

    29. I listened to the audiobook. The author's reading left a lot to be desired. I also did not find the author at all likeable in her story if that matters nor did I find her portrayal of Carolyn at all truly flattering although I know she intended it to be. I don't now if any of that matters, but a waste of money. I regret the purchase

    30. So this book isn't a tell-all. It still could have been a good read, an inside peek into the life of Not so much here-the three main characters are really flat and uninteresting. Did the author really know JFK, Jr. and his wife??(And when your boss's wife takes you shopping and spends thousands of dollars buying you clothes that's just creepy.)
