    1. This has to be one the blandest, most boring books I have ever read in my life. Conflict? The little it has makes absolutely no sense.First, let me start by saying that everything in this book fell into place a little too easily. Everyone loved Gemma and she was just so perfect in every way. Everyone immediately got along with including the few people who don't get along with others. The only people Gemma didn't get along with were the people who were the bad guys. It was actually sickening to r [...]

    6. I am really not a fan of the Edilean series, and this is yet another one that I did not enjoy from Jude Deveraux. I loved her historical romances and some of her contemporary romances were sweet as well, but this latest batch of magical realism romances are gag inducing. I don't want to read a story about a perfect woman sweeping in and making everybody in a perfect little town fall in love with her. How nice that she gets the attention of two of the most eligible bachelors in town. How nice tha [...]

    7. Wow, times have changed, especially for romance novels. Apparently one night stands are super sexy and so are unplanned pregnancies. What I liked best about Deveraux's heroes is that they are masculine and the women are talented. This felt trashy to me. This is my last book of her Edilean series. I'll patiently wait for a new series.

    8. I'm not usually a fan of small-town romances but I really, really loved this one. Edilean has become my favorite small town and if I could find one just like it in real life, I'd probably move there tomorrow. lolGemma Ranford was a real person to me. She came alive through the pages and made me feel like her best friend sharing all her secrets. I loved seeing how she "saw" things and enjoyed her romance with Colin and her friendship with Tristan. And what can I say about Colin Frazier? Other tha [...]

    10. Have you ever read a book, and the main character changes in such a way that it's like 2 different authors were writing the same book? She went from an academic to a body builder, and while the author tried to explain it, the two didn't gel. And this is part of a series, which I read a while back, but the problem is I don't remember any of the previous storylines, so all the previous couples really were confusing.

    11. The Edilean series redeemed its pace with Heartwishes after the disappoinment of Scarlet Nights. Hooked me right from the first page. Even when the excitement slowly winding down as the story progressed, it still managed to captured my attention to the very end.And I never thought that the phrase 'brawn and brain' applies to women too!

    13. Oh man, you know those times in which you look at the clock and it is 12AM, and the next time you look at it it's 4AM, and it didn't even feel as if that much time passed because of how much you were drawn into whatever it was you were doing? Yeah, Heartwishes does this for you. The things that go on do in fact fall into place quite well, but that is the entire point of the Heartwishes stone. Wishes come true! And everyone's wishes are coming true, hence, the falling into place together. Everyth [...]

    15. This book was a mix between mystery and romance and had I realized that it was #5 in the a series, I would have started from the beginning. Gemma, the main character in the story, is a PhD student that gets a job working for the Frazier family in a small town known as Edilean. Gemma's job is to sort through and compile notes on boxes and boxes of history that the Frazier family has - which in turn will also help her write her dissertation. It's at this new job that she meets Colin, the oldest so [...]

    16. I absolutely love this book. Now this is JD’s style that I had come to know and love. It’s like I find peace reading this and I must say it’s a wonderful coincidence that I chose to read this book last. Its like all this while reading the Edilean books, everything are bits and bits of jigsaw puzzles here and there and when reading this book, everything comes together and even the final piece is also included. To me, this is closure. Even though there are 3 more books after this which I sho [...]

    17. Somewhat lackluster addition to the series. I think enough has been said about Edilean. It's lost its flavor and is not a place that you can't wait to go back to. The author is cranking out Edilean tales by rote now. The magic is weak. And as you plow through this book hoping to find what was found in the earlier entries (surely its on the next page?) you find yourself disappointed.I hate it when I don't care whether the main characters accomplish their goal, whatever it might be. I hate it when [...]

    18. Being this book number four that I read from the Edilean series I must say I didn't enjoy it quite as much as the others. The story feels somewhat boring and I didn't connect with the characters, so I found myself looking towards the end of the book, just to put it down. I give it 3 stars due to the obvious good research done by Jude Deveraux, the fact that she tried to do a different female character than the rest of the series (tried to, but didn't succeed to me because Gemma is just way too p [...]

    19. My thoughts on this light romance have more to do with my current situational and emotional state (think stress in bold caps) than the novel itself. That said, it was a warm and fuzzy, happy, feel good balm which absorbed and entertained. Light fare with unexpected humor. How I would rate it in one of my primed, intellectually-covetous states is another matter. Think comfort food rather than gourmet cuisine.

    20. I enjoyed all aspects of this story. It had a good plot with an interesting topic incorporating some fantasy and intrigue. I liked the characters and how the romance developed including dealing with other relationships. Working on her PhD, Gemma gets a job researching a family history and is attracted to one of its sons, sheriff Colin.

    21. This was a cute, happy, easy-to-read story. Not a lot of excitement or mystery. Pretty much a straight-forward contemporary romance with the requisite happy ending. It was perfect for these dreary, snowy, winter days. If you're looking for a story with some meat to it, this is not for you. If you just want some smile-inducing escapism, this is perfect.

    22. We (the huge fans) have been waiting for years for Jude to return to storytelling as lively as it was in the Montgomery days, and I believe that Edilean has breathed new life into our favorite author. The story is not flawless by any means, but the dialogue is so playful and wonderful--it makes it ridiculously easy to fall in love with her characters. Just like the old days. Hooray for Jude!

    23. Done reading this book. Typical, predictable romance story. Not worth the time! I found it to be very boring!

    24. The heroine doesn't have to kill anything, doesn't get beat up or has to climb Mount Everest (w/o a coat), but it kept me entertained.

    25. I literally kept making noises of disgust as I read through this book. Horrible awful cliche blegh! Would not recommend.

    26. We're brought back to the present time in this fifth Edilean novel. Gemma Ranford, a history student about to start her dissertation, is given the job to help the Frazier's sort and make sense of boxes and boxes of paperwork gotten from England and dating back to the 1600's. Gemma is given a guest house to stay in, and she soon is welcomed not only by the Frazier family, but the whole town of Edilean. She meets the oldest Frazier son, Colin, who is sheriff of Edilean. He immediately helps Gemma [...]

    27. 2.5*Gemma comes to Edilian to work for the Frasiers, cataloguing their old family documents. She immediately falls for Colin Frasier, the oldest son and Edilean's sherif. In the meantime, the town of Edilean continues to provide us with mysteries and magic It was a quick read and interesting enough, but I am really getting sick and tired of the Edilean series. There are too many books about this town and people in it and I don't like small towns or small town mentality, so it is really getting o [...]
