    1. My antics as a mischievous child inspired me to write this story. It wasn't that I was a really naughty, just accident prone and a bit of a dare devil. The character, Great Aunt Mabel, is totally fictitious. I invented her so that Polly and Gertie didn’t look so naughty. The scenes from the first half of this book are taken from my memories of a seven-year-old, but not the ending. That part is totally fictitious. Polly’s best friend, Gertie was inspired by my memories of two of my best friend [...]

    2. Precocious Polly just wants to play with her friend, Gertie. But Gertie has a habit of getting both of them in trouble; so Polly's Aunt Mabel has grounded her and forbidden any contact with the bad influence Gertie. If only her parents hadn't asked her very strict aunt to babysit!A lovely, little story that finds Polly getting into more trouble than she can handle. The author has used clever dialogue and description for her characters and the story flows easily. I can just hear young readers lau [...]

    3. Polly and Gertie are best friends forever. They do everything together, whether it is disgusting like chewing bubblegum they have just picked up on the street or riding a bike like crazy.Polly does get upset with Gertie for being silly or being totally careless when Polly thinks taking a risk is totally unnecessary. However, everything always works out between the two of them. (not going to give out any spoilers here)When we meet Polly, her parents are away so auntie Mabel looks after her for th [...]

    4. Update: Oh my word! Ms. Puddle, you are a genius! Finally, a "childs" tale which is appropriate for boys and girls of all ages. I'd highly recommend for everyone to read this book, from Senior Citizens to the youngest readers. Star-Crossed Rascals is the funniest tale I've read in years! I will never look at "play-dough", "gobstoppers" or mops the same. *****10 stars!*****Polly is such an endearing little girl, who's best intentions always seem to land her in a mess. She has come to life in the [...]

    5. My daughter got this book as a gift from a friend. My daughter loves it! And so do I. Best Friends Forever - Gertie and Polly are best friends. One day, they get into big trouble with a bubble gum fiasco. Polly's parents might have handled it differently, but they are out of town and Polly is left in the care of Auntie. Auntie bans Polly and Gertie from playing together ever again. Polly is horrified. How can she live without her 'bestest' friend? She sneaks out to see her and the dynamic duo ge [...]

    6. This was a wonderful adventure story. Polly and Gertie are best friends. When Polly’s parents leave her Aunt in charge of her for a week, things get really hairy. Polly can’t seem to do anything right. Everything she attempts to do ends in catastrophe. It all starts with a gumball that she and her best friend make. This is the first thing that gets her on her aunt’s bad side. When she tries to hide her dinner of Liver and Spaghetti, can you say yuck, she gets in more trouble. Trying to fix [...]

    7. When Polly's parents leave to spend the week with an ill relative, Polly's stuck with mean Auntie. Auntie's not a nice person at all; she's bitter, angry and likes to hand out plenty of chores. And worst of all, she's the most awful cook in the world. The only thing Polly looks forward to is spending her free time with her best friend, Gertie. After a misfortunate accident in the kitchen, Auntie grounds Polly, but Polly's a confident little thing and won't accept not meeting her friend, so she s [...]

    8. I bought this book for my grandaughter. She loves it. I could stop the review right here because that says it all. I'm sure we can all relate on some level to this story about two childhood friends who get into trouble all the time when thinking back on our own childhoods. Just as these two adventurous, mischievious girls appear to go over the line, something funny happens, creating an amusing and entertaining tale. My grandaughter is only seven, but advanced in reading and an avid reader. She c [...]

    9. Received this book from as a win. I thought this would be the perfect book for my grand daughter. I was right. On the third page she was giggling like crazy. She stayed glued to this book until she finished. She gives this the big thumbs up and said it was the best book ever. When I suggested she pass it on to a friend, no way, she was going to read again! Story, niece has Auntie come to stay, while her parents are away. Auntie Mabel is totally not acceptable to Polly, they do not get along. Po [...]

    10. Fans of Ramona Quimby will love Star Crossed Rascals. Main character Polly is mischevious, delightful, and spunky - and boy, does she get in trouble. I found myself laughing out loud at the situations she and her best friend, Gertie, got themselves in. The antagonistic great aunt is a delightful, hammy character herself, and you almost feel sympathy for her with what she has to put up with. A quick read that children of all ages will love. Definitely check it out and share it with your children! [...]

    11. I absolutely loved this book. The voice and characterization is incredible. I found myself feeling sorry for the main character, but also loved herbecause of the way she made a tough situation, and turned into humor. I was laughing on a great journey, and enterained until the end. Highly reccommended!Author Jodi Stone

    12. I won this book in a firstreads giveaway. My 6 yo daughter and I loved it! It is very funny and kids can relate to the trouble that Polly and Gertie get into. They are not BAD kids, just a little mischievious and seem to always get caught. Very cute book. I would recommend it to those who read chapter books to/with their children.

    13. A very good book. For kids more than for teens but still one you shouldn't miss out on. I liked how mischievous Polly was and how she managed to get herself into trouble even when she didn't want to. Definitely a good, entertaining and uplifting read that will remind you of your own childhood.

    14. This story was inspired by my antics as a mischievous seven-year old, but I turned it into fictitious children's story. Though the two little rascals are naughty, my aim wasn't to encourage young readers to copy. My aim is to make them laugh and to encourage reluctant readers. This book is the first in my series of The Loveable Rascals. The second book is Rascals Sing at The Opera House.

    15. Great little kids read, although there was a bit in there that made me gag. Even now I feel a bleugh thinking about it.But I love Miss Puddles gruesome imagery, and naughty shenanigans stories, and kids will too.

    16. wonderful book! lessons given without being preachy and a million laughs for my 8YO grandson and 6YO G-daughter. Wit and charm galore for Grandmother, too! Highly recommend.
