    1. Reviewed at Bitten By Paranormal RomanceIf you’re looking for the sanitized, romanticized or even (GAH someone slap me) the twinkling day-walking vampire – thank you Mr. Chase, because you won’t find them here. Mr. Chase has created a world that puts the vampire right back where it all began. In the shadows, at the top of the food chain; peering down at us with those mesmerizing eyes, captivating us with their beauty. Harkens back to the day of the vampire as true predator.Katherine and Al [...]

    2. I really enjoyed taking a walk on the darker side of paranormal romance with Dark is the Night. This is a darker vampire romance with the added suspense storyline that author Brindle Chase has brought into the paranormal romance world. If you still like your vampires with bite this maybe for you, but be warned Brindle writes vampires that kills. Oh yeah, that’s what I like most about it. Vampires are predators they need to kill for their livelihood and in saying this they also need a darker ta [...]

    3. What I liked:An erotic romance.right was definitely a position outside my comfort zone but I've read a lovely review of Lis and decided to give the book a try. As curious as a cat, you know. If I wanted to be nasty (completely out of my character of course) I would say this book is a kind of “Twilight” for adults. By and large we are dealing here with a similar premise: a very handsome vampire predator all of a sudden finds his true love (or soul mate or whatever you call it) in a shape of a [...]

    4. Chase combines vampires, murder, torture and undeniable, irresistible, insatiable arousal in this dark paranormal romance. The story is told in first person from Alexander's and Katherine's points of view.Usually the domain of the antagonists, the romantic male lead in this story is a vampire in the more traditional vein: cold blooded predator, kills when feeding, turns a victim simply by feeding upon, must behead and burn to kill to make sure victim doesn't turn, to kill must behead and/or remo [...]

    5. Katherine Wells was an excellent Homocide Detective. She loved to take a hands on approach when hunting murderers and looking for justice for the victims. Even though she was aware that her guys treated her differently because she was a woman who happened to be a little top heavy, she also knew she had their total respect for her detective abilities. She and her partner had been investigating the Antoinette murders when they were called in on a mysterious death which was extremely suspicious to [...]

    6. 5*****StarsSince having the opportunity to read, review and enjoy the writing of Brindle Chase, with Goth City Lights and The Grass is Always Greener, I have put myself on an auto read for his new releases. I must admit Dark is The Night is a much darker read than his other books, but what a good story it is.Dark is The Night opens with our old world vampire, Alexander, telling us how he perceives we humans. We are his prey and he is on the top of the food chain. His view of the hunt for prey is [...]

    7. 4 1/2 starsKatherine Wells is a hard as nails detective in Cleveland’s homicide division, currently working on the Antoinette killer case. She has little time or patience for a personal life. Alexander is a vampire; he has no illusions as to what his kind is, predators at the top of the food chain. Katherine and Alexander run full force into each other and their worlds collide. The hunter and the hunted, the prey and the predator, night and day, two forces unable to resist each other. Can they [...]

    8. Katherine Wells was you typical detective. Hard ass, no crap taking, married to the job, with no time for any messy entanglements like relationships. It wasn’t that she didn’t like sex, she just didn’t get men. Even though she was surrounded by single guys at the station, she stuck to the rules and never encouraged an at work romance. Her ideas of right and wrong were nailed firmly in place with no room for any grey area. She loved her partner, her job, and settled for one night stand cont [...]

    9. I made it almost halfway but just can not finish this. It just got torturous trying to read ite investigation has to be the most boring one I've ever readThe Female MC is just an idiot. Its like she spends whole book fishing for compliments then she gets them and says "oh no, I'm not as pretty as the victim, please stroke my ego more" not a direct quote but yeah, feels like she is constantly searching for fulfillment by having people tell her she is pretty so she can then deny it and think somet [...]

    10. ~May contain slight spoilers~In Brindle Chase's novel Dark is the Night we get a paranormal erotic plot. We first meet Alexander, a vampire. Next we meet Katherine, a police detective, who just happens to be investigating a set of his murders. When Alexander first observes Katherine he is instantly attracted to her only later after some sexually tensioned meetings does he learn that she is the detective that is heading his case: the one that he has been ordered to kill to in order to protect the [...]

    11. Dark is definitely a good way to describe this unique paranormal romance. I'm not one that usually likes stories in the first person, but the author managed to bring together two first person perspectives (Hero and heroine) and make it work which is extremely hard to do in my book. The story begins with the predator hunting his prey. It's a detailed murder scene, that is greusome, yet erotic in it's own twisted way. In enters crime scene detective Katherine Wells, who is hot on the trail of the [...]

    12. Katherine Wells is an excellent Homicide Detective and she's lonely, by choice. Her job is demanding leaving no time for socializing or a relationship for that matter. Alexander is an old world vampire, at one thousand years old, and he is becoming sloppy in his feedings. During a homicide investigation Katherine discovers a lead that could identify her victim, and goes undercover. She has a brief encounter with Alexander and all she can think of is giving into him and doing anything for him/ to [...]

    13. This book was interesting from the first page on. I loved how it opened up with a killing from the vampire right off the bat. It gave it a dark, edgy vibe that really made me want to read more. The idea of a vampire and the detective investigating the deaths he caused who fall in love is really intriguing and not the usual overdone vampire story. What I didn't like was how it was more about their relationship and we only got a little of the actual storyline of her as a detective. It turned from [...]

    14. Alexander is a dangerous obsession for our heroine Katherine. Alex is a vampire of the worst order -- a remorseless killer. She meets him while investigating a serial killer and while he is looking for the cop that must be stopped from finding the truth. Of course, instant love and the soul mate thing changed their plans in the most erotic ways as often as possible. This is erotica. Don't deceive yourself like I did. This is not erotica lite. Meaning, the sex is at least 50% of the book. It's ex [...]

    15. Fascinating story, fabulous dialogueI am not a vampire book lover per se, but I love a dark story and a good romance and this was both. Mr. Chase weaves a great tale of an elegant vampire with the trials with the tribulations of a Cleveland police department beautifully. He takes us back and forth between the two worlds and oddly, we're rooting for both sides. I especially liked the police dept. as the dialogue was so realistic, I felt like a fly on the wall. The heroine, Katherine is sexy, smar [...]

    16. SCORCHING hot read! Dark is the Night is erotic, sexy, and as the title says, DARK. Brindle's take on vampires is different from the average vampire in romantic fiction, but that makes it immensely more powerful. I love that Alexander does not feel remorse in hunting and killing in order to feed. It's a reminder that vampires are not human. Katherine was a great character too. I love how she progresses throughout the story.Dark is the Night kept me enthralled as I read, and if you're comfortable [...]

    17. Realistic Hot as Hell Vampire Story - Loved it! This book captured my attention from the first page. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It was a refreshing change from all the lovey-dovey vampire stories Ive read. Vampires are scary and can rip you apart but those they love can be worshiped. Interesting, hot erotic read!

    18. 4.5 stars.Short, quick readI like and enjoyed this book it has mystery, romance which is very much erotic, smart characters I totally fell in love with they kept me coming back for more! The plot unexpected twist and turn plus dilemmas they’ve been through is like a roller coaster ride fantastically done!

    19. sirenssongreviews I was sucked right into this story and couldn’t put it down! I really enjoyed the read!!

    20. Dark is the Night brings the story of Katherine Wells, a homicide detective who loves to solve puzzles but the latest crimes in her area are starting to look unsolvable. What she doesn't know is that the criminal she's looking for is not exactly a man, but a vampire. Alexander is a God-looking male, he's also a predator drawn to Katherine in ways he can't quite understand, after centuries of contentment in his solitude, the idea of needing that woman is troubling. The whole premise and plot line [...]

    21. I’m really on the fence with this one, can’t make up my mind if it’s a 2 or 3.This is one dark paranormal. I loved that about this book. Readers get to see an extremely dark side of vampirism up close and personal right from the vamps point of view. I also liked the first person telling of this story. The point of view went from Alexander and Katherine, but always in first person. The author does a wonderful job of switching point of view between the character and the reader is never left [...]

    22. Full review reposted from my Smitten with Reading blogMy Review:Dark. Edgy. Erotic. This is not a book like my normal reads. It's a love story that features a vampire, but this is not one of your kindler, gentler vampire love stories. These vampires are predators in every sense of the word and make no qualms about that fact. The hero of the novel is Alexander, a 1000+ year-old vampire. He is completely honest about the fact that he kills and sometimes he even enjoys those kills because that is p [...]

    23. DARK IS THE NIGHT not only delivers some very hot and intense passionate scenes, but also returns to the concept that vampires are predatory killer driven by the instinct to hunt and feed from their victims. Though I enjoyed the concept and the hot sex scenes, there were elements that threw me off and made it difficult for to connect with the characters. At the beginning of the book I felt as if I was transported to a 1940's detective movie by how Katherine “spoke”. At first I tried to ignore [...]

    24. Really, 3 1/2. I agonized over this rating, but I felt the characters could have been drawn with more dimension. I loved Katherine. At first. She was a smart detective and an independent woman. After Alexander, except for a few good reversals, she became nothing more than a sex machine who allowed a man--okay, a vampire--to cloud her judgment beyond all reason and common sense, even as far as to betray her professional ethics. And who was Alexander? He knew, but the reader didn't, other than he [...]

    25. I expected to really like this book more than I did because I loved "That One Night in Vegas". Unfortunately, I almost didn't finish Dark is the Night. There were too many things that felt 'wrong'--forced or out of place or roll-your-eyes-ridiculous. The most annoying thing was the main character's supposed lack of vanity or lack of awareness of her own sex-appeal. She kept noting that men would ogle her, but then she would inwardly claim that she didn't think of herself as sexy. I didn't believ [...]

    26. This is Book One of The Dark Justice Series by Brindle Chase.Brindle Chase writes contemporary & paranormal erotic romances and never fails to make a woman lose her breath, for just a little while And he does it so very well His books are not for the faint-of-heart or easily shocked reader But if you like steamy paranormal romance, like I do, then you have to check out this amazing author! Alexander is a justice unto his own species and follows his own instincts but always tries to stay with [...]

    27. darker than usual vamp stories - these kill but it's their nature ?Female cop and she's in a pickleGOOD read and worth your time.
