    1. “You can handle just about anything that comes at you out on the road with a believable grin, common sense and whiskey.” --Bill MurrayIn his forward to this book, Bill Murray says he wanted to write travel stories that aren't like the guide books that give you itemized prices. He succeeds in that. He and his wife, Mirja, have been to some pretty out of the way places.I like that Murray is interacting with real people in faraway places, and that he's not afraid to get in a snit with his drive [...]

    2. As this book was my introduction to the travel genre, I began reading with a guarded optimism. What I found was a delightful and engaging journey to places off the beaten path, but full of life and story. Bill Murray writes in a style that is easy to follow and full of description that transplants the reader to the time and place. His description of the people along the way, is what fasicinated me the most. This book is a must read and one that is hard to put down. I longed for the next chapter [...]

    3. This book has had a place in my car for those waiting times. Dipping into it is like sitting with a favorite Uncle at the Holidays listening to his travel tales. Murray writes of his travels with a perspective that is down home--or as he says--common sense and whiskey. Especially recommended for travelers of the arm chair variety!

    4. Bill Murray is a great story teller and a wonderful writer. He made me feel like I was right there with him. This is not an ordinary travel book, this is more like an adventure book for out of the way places. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

    5. This read is outside of the genres I normally read. I did rather enjoy the journey. If you are like me, a rat on a wheel destined to run until my heart explodes, you will enjoy this get-a-way with the masters of travel - Bill and Mirja Murray.I was drawn into the book on the first chapter when the author reveals where they were September 11, 2001. We all know where we were at that time but to be where they were must have been excruciating. My two favorite chapters were those outlining the South A [...]

    8. I won this book a while ago in the first reads giveaway on . This book was put together basically like a written scrapbook. It was very easy to follow and I enjoyed reading it. I felt like the author was sitting next to me telling me about everything in the book like a friend might do after a trip somewhere. I recommend this book to people who like to travel from the comfort of their favorite reading chair.

    9. ***Won from First Reads***This book is an easy-to-read travelogue that is presented like a personal scrapbook.
