    1. I never knew how to sew, so my friend and I signed up for a college course on sewing. This was the textbook. I still use it to this day - lots of great 'how-tos' on weird types of stitching, zippers, etc. And a cheap book!

    2. i can't actually say i read every word in this book, as some of it was patterns and whatnot. somehow, with basically no sewing experience, i was hoping for something a little bit more basic. it says it's good for beginners, and yet there was terminology that was never really explained that they just assume you know. i think it will be a good reference once i get started, and it does have lots of good advice about picking patterns and fabric. however, i think i'll need to find something else to a [...]

    3. I have several years' experience at sewing, and this is my first go to book when I need to learn or review a technique. The book covers serging in addition to sewing machine techniques. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is sometimes the information that I want isn't in there (probably too specialized) and also, I prefer photos in addition to diagrams.
