    1. I want to write this review while it is fresh in my mind. James Patterson has enough money. Stop having other people write books and putting your name on them. This last one is a piece of drivel that I can't believe I read to the end. I wanted to see how extreme it got. At the end, you could see another series of books coming with the new partners. Don't waste your money (mine came from the library) or your time.

    2. I have a James Patterson problem. I read them and then I feel ashamed of myself because the latest ones are so bad. I think this must be how people with other secret addictions feel. Lot's of self-loathing and the inability to stop. I keep reading more because his old ones were pretty darn good. NYPD Red is spectacularly badly written. It contains what is quite possibly the worst image I've ever read - certainly the worst one I've read in years: "You know what my mom always said - the perfect br [...]

    3. Really liked these characters and the crime plot. I enjoyed the banter between Zach and Kylie, and I believe I will end up loving this series. The plot of the criminal characters creating a movie out of the crimes without it being filmed in a traditional manner was very intriguing. My quick and simple overall: very entertaining with enjoyable characters.

    4. 3 starsThe first book of the NYPD Red series. There are 5 books in this series. Always the extra and never the star, Gabe Benoit is writing, directing and starring in his own movie - and playing it all out in his head. He and girlfriend Lexi are using Hollywood week in New York city to cause chaos. Using his expertise at being a movie extra Gabe is pulling off a number of murders. Detective Zach Jordon, of the NYPD Red squad, is on Benoit's trail, along with his partner Kylie MacDonald - an old [...]

    5. I really enjoyed it!!! I always like the way James Patterson writes his stories. He writes for the audience. He doesn't write to sound like he's above a class of society, but at a level that an everyday working class American can understand, without having to work to hard to figure what the heck he's talking about. He gets in character or in many characters with out losing me. I can sit down enjoy his books after a hard day and get lost in the moment. In the case of this book I indulged it, it w [...]

    6. Hi. My name is Krystin. And I'm an addict. friends say: Hi Krystin.I'm addicted to reading James Patterson. Even though I think he's a terrible writer. Even though I know these novels aren't really written by him, he just takes the credit. Even though every time I read a James Patterson novel it makes me feel like I've lost another IQ point. But mostly, I'm addicted to writing reviews on about how much I hate reading James Patterson novels. So for my New Year's resolution I promise to not read [...]

    7. NYPD REDMr. Patterson has written a fantastic book. This book is going to be extremely hard to put down once you start reading it.It is Hollywood week where the Mayor along with lots of other dignitaries and the NYPD Red force are on special alert. The main reason is to attract the directors and producers to film more movies in the Big Apple. We are introduced to Zach Jordan who has been with the NYPD force for several years and now is going to partner with Kylie MacDonald, who also is his ex gir [...]

    8. 3.5 starsNote to self: The blurb is enough to act as reminder about the whole story.Technicality: 1st person POV for Zach, but 3rd person POV for the others.Thoughts:First, I find it interesting that the main narrator's partner used to be his ex-girlfriend in the academy but she is now happily married with someone else. Zach (the MC) admits that he is still in love with his now-partner, Kylie, but at the same time, he is decent enough not to do anything about it. In fact, he seems to want to pur [...]

    9. I was really disappointed with this one. There are so many fantastic crime authors around now, authors that treat their readers like intelligent people, & James Patterson used to be one of them. But this book was pure laziness really. The writing itself was so simplified & terribly cliched at times that I actually caught myself rolling my eyes. And the fact that the villain was revealed right from the start took any mystery or suspense out of it. I hate being spoon fed a book & that's [...]

    10. I have never read any of James Patterson Books before this one. It was Recommend to me by a friend. This is a new series by James Patterson and Marshall Karp, I loved this first installment we meet Zach Jordan and his partner—and ex-girlfriend—Kylie MacDonald, this new partner ship gets off to a shake start but I loved the relationship that is building between both.Zach still has feelings for Kylie who is now married to a well off Business man.

    11. NYPD Red was formed as a special task force to protect the Hollywood elite – to keep them and the mayor happy, and to hopefully stop any trouble before it started. But the week of the Hollywood on Hudson film festival was destined to bring out the crazies, and it most certainly did that – one in particular who had written his own script. When Detective Zach Jordan was called to an exclusive restaurant because a dynamic producer had collapsed over his breakfast, he was accompanied by his new p [...]

Senti-me cativada desde as primeiras linhas. As personagens rapidamente agarram o leitor e a trama consegue viciar-nos, deixando-nos ávidos por mais e ma [...]

    13. i enjoyed this book far more than I had expected to. It is a bit of a cliched "cop drama" but the plot carried me along and the characters were interesting It was quite predictable at times but the pace was fast so I could accept it and just travel along with the story. A good book if you want some real escapism.

    14. NYPD Red is another book with James Patterson’s name on the cover, most likely written by the “co-writer”, Marshall Karp. Plot summary: a crazy movie extra with delusions of being an actor/director decides to take out his frustrations on the actors and directors who are visiting the Big Apple for a “Hollywood on the Hudson” promotion, thus becoming a serial killer. NYPD Red, the department created to look after elite New Yorkers, is on the case. As usual, short chapters (maximum 4 page [...]

    15. *Review* NYPD Red by James Patterson & Marshall Karp I was trying to figure out what I liked about this series that I didn't with the Cross ones.I think - don't quote me - that this read has a little more filling. Especially to the cases. Zack and Kylie are more hands on, running from site to site and tossing ideas back and forth which draws the reader into the crime, into the world more.I like the pacing and characters of this story. I'll definitely be reading the next one.

    16. I love James Patterson’s books so I was thoroughly delighted to discover this new series which opens in dramatic style! I can’t wait to see how the characters develop in the following books.

    17. As I mention at the start of all of my James Patterson book reviews, I generally really enjoy his writing and his way of storytelling. Recently I have been disappointed by the latter Private books because they are quite forgettable and not really something I would think about after reading. However, for me, starting this new series of his was a great idea and I really enjoyed it.Detective Zach Jordan is a refreshing main character who has evident flaws but embraces them and carries on with his d [...]

    18. I debated long and hard about reading this novel, adding it to and deleting it from my 'to read' list several times. I have Karp on my 'to read' list but not Patterson because reviews of his work made me think he'd be an author I wouldn't care for.I'm glad I took a chance on this book. It was a fast read loaded with action, tension, and taut writing. One big plus: Karp and Patterson put a very non-traditional twist in the main character’s new partner is his ex-girlfriend set up: she isn’t new [...]

    19. DUAL narrators? Say whaaaat???FREAKING AWESOME.It totally helped bring the characters to life from the point of view of The Chameleon and Officer Jordan as they switched back and forth between chapters and gave them their own unique individual voices. Each narrator was also great at bringing voices out for the other characters that appeared in each of the chapters like the other police officers or the rich and famous of Hollywood.I loved the idea behind the series as it really sounds interesting [...]

    20. Half way through - this is classic Patterson to the letter! I was disappointed in the past two books (Confessions of a Murder Suspect and Zoo) but this is back to his roots. Since I have been disappointed lately I read the "sample chapters" that you can download from BN and . I couldn't wait to buy it!I highly recommend, and I'm not even finished!

    21. NYPD Red: James PattersonCreating a murder while on the set of a movie production took planning, intelligence and definitely quite a lot of skill. Orchestrating the murder of a famous Hollywood producer right in front of the diners in an upscale restaurant even more cunning. Enter the city of New York and meet the stars of this show not your everyday actors you see on the widescreen, the net or even on your I Pad but the real life stars that hit the streets, go behind the scenes and protect the [...]

    22. Yassss!! I needed to read this book for a challenge but I was really happy to get to read a new (to me) James Patterson series, and I am really happy to say that I am a fan. I love the pairing of characters and I just love how JP writes from both perspectives. Great read!

    23. Typical Patterson: Un-put-downablet's the start of Hollywood on Hudson, and New York City is swept up in the glamour. Every night, the red carpet rolls out for movie stars arriving at premieres in limos; the most exclusive restaurants close for private parties for wealthy producers and preeminent directors; and thousands of fans gather with the paparazzi, hoping to catch a glimpse of the most famous and beautiful faces in the world. With this many celebrities in town, special task force NYPD Red [...]

    24. A special group in the NYPD that look after the rich and famous - NYPD Red. At the start of "Hollywood On The Hudson" week (a week designed to entice more movies to be made in New York) a killer starts to take out some of the big hitters.Zach Jordan and Kylie MacDonald have to stop him. Zach and Kylie were lovers in the academy - but Kylie is happily married to a TV producer. Zach never got over Kylie. That's where I have my biggest problem with this book. It's all about how awesome Kylie is - s [...]

    25. James Patterson is at the top of his game with NYPD Red, a smart police thriller that had my pulse racing and my fingers churning through the pages until I reached the end. I honestly felt as if I were watching a movie unfold before my eyes, as the writing is so vivid! The plot is quick-paced and intriguing, with an antagonist, The Chameleon, who is perfectly psychotic and creepy, providing a fantastic chase of cat-and-mouse as Zach and Kylie race to stop him. I find that some books are so detai [...]

    26. Zach Jordan was teamed up with Kylie MacDonald, a former lover now married to a Hollywood producer. Their first assignment together: track down the serial killer murdering the Hollywood elite in New York for a big wingding the mayor is hosting. Whoever the bad guy is, he's Found creative ways of perpetrating his crimes. Tossing a Molotov cocktail at one star and lighting him on fire, arming a gun that should have been shooting blanks with live ammo so that an adulterous star gets killed by his o [...]

    27. I have read well over four thousand books since I began listing them, so it is fair to say that I have probably several that are worse than this one, though none leap to mind just at the moment.I know that James Patterson has been immensely prolific and commercially successful, selling millions of books around the world. Indeed, 'James Patterson' is now really a brand, and he tends to work with collaborators, producing a synopsis of a storyline which a co-writer will then flesh out into a comple [...]

    28. I can see why James Patterson has sold 200 million books - they are fast reads and not that filling, so like junk food the undiscriminating reader might want more - not me (the pit falls of random library selections). The good part about plot is quick paces so I was able to get through more quickly, but like a made for TV movie - predicable. Why do American authors always include the ex-wife/girl friend in the plot, or all the other women in the story are beautiful or gorgeous – it just reeks [...]

    29. James Patterson presented one of the most awesome books so far.I am really hoping that he will take off the characters of this book and start a series. He really brought his writings back to life and it is greatly appreciated, as I can honestly say that there are some of his books that I wouldn't expect.I loved the characters, the suspense and the ending.I am not one to give away the story, but NYPD Red was an excellent title and this book, should be on NY Best Seller list.
