    1. I really enjoyed this book, and recommend it! You get two cozy mysteries for the price of one. After the mystery was solved and everything was wrapping up, I noticed that the book was about 75% complete (on my Kindle). I figured that there was an excerpt from the next book in the Dunbarton Mystery Series. Lo and behold, a #X&$@ occurred (I don't give spoilers in reviews), and so there was another mystery to solve. Both mysteries were solved satisfactorily. The characters were likeable, with t [...]

    2. A satisfying cozy mystery Reminiscent of Agatha Christie's small village mysteries, this book retains the elements of a good puzzle but is lighter in tone. Cat and animal lovers will especially enjoy Marmalade's antics and worry over his welfare as the story unfolds. Looking forward to the next installment!

    3. How could you not love a book that starts out "It was a dark and stormy night."? Well, it wasn't really a dark and stormy night. It was a sunny afternoon. Well, you get the idea. An older lady of means, died and left her fortune to her cat. Yes, to the cat. To say that the family was ok with it, was not at all true. Actually they were all just 'waiting' for the 'old lady' to pass so they could get her money. Lovely family, isn't it. I know some families like that, don't you?I don't want you to w [...]

    4. This is a rather unusual mystery - in fact, I was at least half-way through before I was sure it was a mystery. (Make that more like three quarters of the way through.) However, the run-up to the mystery is interesting - a young man has first an old woman as his client (he's an attorney), then the family she leaves behind. It's sort of like life - a traveling story that moves from one thing to another, changing direction and purpose as it goes. It takes place in Canada, near Toronto, has a good [...]

    5. A light and amusing mystery/detective story. I can just see it as a film, maybe a Walt Disney film. The writing is impeccable, and the author has a gift for phrasing - 'about as warm as a Huron January' and 'his air of patient melancholy.' I particularly enjoyed the accounts of the attempted capture of Marmalade. You know cats - the smug certainty of the master of the house, the cat, rings so true. 4 stars - really liked it. Incredible value for 99c.

    6. Enjoyed this light yet interesting mystery, was intrigued by the cat!A house is not a home without an orange furry feline, mine has never been without one!

    7. Very good story line. Loved the humorous parts. Marmalade was the best character in the book, he reminded me of a cat I once had.

    8. A very enjoyable read. Put me in the mind of the novels of the 30s and 40s. Very entertaining storyline with good characters and two mysteries in one story.

    9. When an "AristoCat" goes missing, there's no pussyfooting around! When Dunbarton's founding matriarch Amanda leaves Marmalade her fortune, the family is stung with indignant embarrassment. The deceased Mrs. Dunbar does not approve of son James' choice of spouse and shows her disdain in the biggest diss possible. The cat loves to make trouble and only takes to Amanda Dunbar's animal enthusiast granddaughter Alicia, and is full of spite for Alicia's mother, Alice. Stipulating that town lawyer Chris [...]

    10. It was a cute enough story. A bit of humor, a bit of family drama, some romance, and of course, a cozy mystery. If the story was a little formulaic and predictable, but that's not what kept me from enjoying it.Instead, here is what made me not like it. Marmalade is not neutered and they let him wander. At one point, the characters even go an animal shelter and notice all the cats waiting for homes, but they still don't make sure Marmalade doesn't bring more kittens into the world. Then at one po [...]

    11. Thoroughly Enjoyable Very fun reading. The characters are perfect for the story. Catnip is a mystery and it's fun following the clues. It's a good storyline and the characters are likeable . I couldn't wait to find out "whodunit"!! I can't wait to read the next book. I hope Valerie Tate never stops writing. She is a very good author who creates full real characters and makes her story a real mystery you want to solve. Hard to stop reading this once you start.

    12. Not bad.Just so so. I felt this was more a book for a young teen than adult fiction. I appreciated the clean book. No bad language and nothing that would require censoring of sorts. It was a mystery but very mild and mostly predictable. Don't look for this to be full of suspense.

    13. The cat's whiskersWhen the entire fortune of the founding family of Dunbarton is left to Marmalade the cat it begins to have a surprising effect on the formerly dysfunctional disinherited family left behind. Until the catnapping.

    14. I enjoyed this book so much that I got onto straight away to order the next one in the series. Likeable characters, triumph over adversity and a gorgeous cat. What more could you want. No spoilers, just read the book.

    15. CATNIPWell it sure did take some time to get to the murderI was so afraid that it was going to be poor (or should I say "rich") Marmaladewas so glad it wasn'tANK YOU for another great read

    16. A happily ever afterFrom a poor beginning, for the family not the book. Finally every one gets their happily ever after in this

    17. BoringI found this book way too simple and boring, as if written by a child. I expected more since I am a "cat person".

    18. Not bad. The main characters are interesting and the mystery well-done. I don't know if I want to read the next in the series or not. Maybe sometime.

    19. A good cat storyLoved it. I can't wait for more in the series. Its so nice to read a clean mystery that is not filled with filthy language and sex.

    20. [Full disclosure: I received a free ebook copy from Valerie Tate in exchange for an honest review.]I’ll admit that I was more than a little skeptical about this book. I mean, mystery novels really aren’t my thing in general but such a cliché-sounding novel definitely didn’t sound like my thing. Still, I gave it a try because I’ll give practically any book a chance.Imagine my surprise and delight when Catnip was nothing like I expected! Sure at first the Dunbar family seems like your typ [...]

    21. See this and all of my reviews at Mystereity ReviewsI've read the third book in this series, so I picked up Catnip to see how the series started, and I wasn't disappointed. I liked that there was two separate mysteries combined in one plot, the catnapping of Marmalade and a murder. The first part of the book was concerned with setting the scene, introducing the characters, and laying the foundation of the plot, and then the lead-up to the catnapping had me on pins and needles, sure the dastardly [...]

    22. The premise for the story made me chuckle, so I decided to give the book a try. It's a book that is about two parts whodunit mystery, one part romance. I'm not a big romance reader, but once I got through that pocket of the book, I found the rest of the story to be a quick, entertaining read. Surprisingly, the character I sympathized with and liked the most was Marmalade, the cat. Lots of things seemed a bit far-fetched or potentially inaccurate, but suspension of disbelief goes a long way in be [...]

    23. Clever detective tale about a woman who leaves her fortune to her cat. Her family have to look after the cat in order that the grand-daughter inherits when the cat dies, or the fortune will go to a cat charity. Twists and turns abound but you probably have to be a cat lover to really enjoy this book.

    24. This was WONDERFUL!!!! I really enjoyed this one! Marmalade is a really cool cat who has had some strange things happen to him and to his people I really like how the author used the process of caring for the cat to help the family deal with their issues and change their lives for the positive! I really want to read more in this series!

    25. Fun feline mystery A mystery based around a fun feline named Marmalade. Great fun with plenty of twists and turns. Sort of slow in the beginning but more than makes up for it once it gets moving.

    26. This book is so sweet, whimsical, romantic, and fun, I will be reading it again in the future. Highly recommend it to most anyone. It's not your average mystery story. I can't wait to begin the next book and see what Valerie Tate has in store for the characters next.

    27. Liked the writing and the story. The characters were fun. A little far fetched at times, but cute. Wasn’t disappointed that I had given my time to read it.

    28. Funny! Funny! Funny! You must be an animal lover particular, a cat lover to enjoy this book. It's the best I've read in such a long, long time.
