    1. This is a long one, but it has a number of quotes.I really wanted to like this book, but it was not to be. The writing and I didn't click (I'll expand on that in a moment) and I found the main character, Toni Drake, incredibly unlikeable. She is suicidally mouthy. I hate this in a character. There is a fine line between pleasantly sarcastic and just plain tourettes-level say anything that comes to mind, especially if it's threatening and self aggrandizing. Once that line is crossed, a character b [...]

    2. I would have liked to be able to give this book 4 stars, but it has some flaws that prevented that. I liked the story premise, and the protagonist (although her potty mouth was a bit much even for me). The secondary and tertiary characters were well-depicted, and there were a reasonable number of them: enough to fill out the story, but not too many to keep straight. The world building was good without getting didactic, and included some interesting features. However there are probably too many t [...]

    3. It was okay. Entertaining, plot-driven, and a quick read. One thing that drives me crazy in fantasy novels, though, is when the parameters of the world/the magic are not clear and when new powers show up when convenient and disappear when they're not. If dragons can communicate mentally, for example, why didn't Anna apprise Toni of her conversation with the water matriarch right away? Why were they waiting until they physically saw her? If male dragons could not mentally communicate (until Garro [...]

    4. Oh is this one fun. There aren't enough truly adult urban fantasy stories out there where you don't need tons amount of blood and sex, but you still want the story to clearly not be PG-13, and this story delivers. Toni is a sailor-mouthed femme fatale who means business, and the discovery that she isn't actually human and the adventures and mysteries that follow are an amazing ride, if only because Toni doesn't take crap from anyone. She's more an anti-hero, which I love, and yet she still learn [...]

    5. This is a fun storyd it has dragons! Good character development and a heroine with moxie (and a motorcycle).
