    1. Well-written but very dense overview of what Melbourne was like prior to European settlement. Particularly fascinating when talking about the plants and animals, but the more geoglogical sections could have benefited from more maps (especially the section on Melbourne's watercourses, which I recommend reading with a Melways close at hand.It enriched my understanding of my hometown, and really, that's all I wanted it to do.
