    1. DNF’d at 30%I’m stunned. And shocked. And befuddled. How did this happen? This was supposed to be one hell of an M/M romance read filled with amazing paranormal aspects and a world-building + romance that will blow a reader’s mind…right?Well, no. At least, not for me, and that’s unfortunate because I contemplated buying the whole series in paperback and having these fantastic looking covers in my library. But I tried, and I really didn’t see anything special about this.First, I have [...]

    2. *Kindle freebie 4/11/17!*Attention all fans of military men and shifters! A new series has come to town!! Excellent paranormal book with simple yet effective world building- just what the doctor ordered! Charlie Cochet, your hard work has paid off. This was very enjoyable, though I almost knocked it down to 3.5 stars because the mystery element was weak. In a lot of paranormal books the reader has to do a lot of hard work getting up to speed with the author's created "world." There is often eith [...]

    3. Hell & High Water would make a kick-ass movie! This book read like a fast-paced flick but contained certain elements I dislike in the M/M romance genre:Focus on action vs. romanceMany secondary characters that drew the attention away from the MCsVery little steam on page (there was one, count it: ONE, sex scene, and it was over before I blinked)Lots and lots of bantering to the detriment of more realistic dialogueInfo dumping to set up the premiseAn unhinged, rather obvious villain who "confe [...]

    4. 3-3.5 StarsSo this was a fun little nugget to start what I hope will be an awesome series. I love M/M.I love PNR.And I love shifter romance. So you give me gay shifter romance in some alternate post-Vietnam reality? And I'll make like a chubby Storage Wars asshole who bids on everyone else's superfluous crap.Dex and Sloane were some really good and interesting characters.ough they were saddled with one of my least favorite story "glitches"(view spoiler)[The dead former lover. (hide spoiler)]Don't [...]

    5. 4.5 starsI want a THIRDS TV show or a movie!! I mean look at this casting that Charlie Cochet has on her website. Chris Pine! Joe Manganiello! *dies*Sorry, I got distracted there – it’s just that I get too excited with this new series from Charlie Cochet. She is not a new author to me – I first read her stories back in 2012. But so far, I am more familiar with her historical stories (and for someone who doesn’t read a lot of historical, I sure do enjoy hers). Charlie does have a shifter [...]

    6. Written August 7, 20153 1/2 Stars - Sweet & FunBook #1I'm so relieved I finished this story at lastter a whole year.I never finished reading the ebook last summer. Stopped at 83% not because I didn't enjoy it but it was summer vacation time and not enough time. Then time went and there were other books. — Nearly a year later, I added the audiobook (just $2).10 hrs narrated by Mark Westfield and I crossed my fingers Hell & High Water would work better this summer. ********************** [...]

    7. 3.5 starsJust a few of my random notes made whilst readingDex has a complete personality change about a quarter into the book. He started out serious and turned into a ham when he got to THIRDS HQ.A lot of attention to detail. Too much maybe?33% saw me with tears in my eyes. Ash making fun of Dex and Dex getting upset.I did really enjoy this book and I will definitely read the next in the series. There were a few things that threw me off (see notes above) and I guessed whodunit pretty much from [...]

    8. Warning: series contains action, comedy, romance, bromance, cheesy eighties references, big boys with big guns, a puppet, sassy blonds, shenanigans. A lion, a tiger, a jaguar--oh my! Don't forget the cheetah. Oh, and plenty of sexy time.Hello all! As the time grows nearer, I couldn't be more excited to be sharing with you the first book in my new contemporary-law enforcement shifter series called the THIRDS. When I first set out to write this series, I knew I wanted to do something a little diff [...]

    9. Hell &High Water was totally amazeballs. I had the BEST time reading this and fell in love with every character in itapart from the baddies obviously, Duh! As well as making my tummy tingle, Dex had me peeing myself laughing.e fight for the cheesy doodles wasclassicand the lion puppet/Ash incident had me In tucks! Sloane had me drooling and the rest of the gang including Tony, Ash, Cael, Calvin & Hobbs and the kick ass Rosa and Letty, just made me wanna be in their gang. I want to be a T [...]

    10. Rating: 4.25 starsWell fuck me. Did I just dream up the awesomeness that is Hell & High Water in order to get out of my book funk? Because let me tell you: it was amazing.I'm not usually a fan of shifter stories, because they tend to come off as porny (not always a bad thing) or just don't feel very well developed. Fortunately, Hell & High Water took a different route with a shifter story. The author constructed a modern day world where shifters (aka: Therians) live on a precarious exist [...]

    11. Dexter J. Daley is an HPF (Human Police Force) detective. Recently he testified against his Human partner in a murder trial and now he's a media target. Soon his boyfriend breaks up with him, he gets beat up by cops and is "promoted" to the THIRDS Defense Agent.Therian-Human Intelligence Recon Defense Squadron is a military-funded agency where high ranking Human officers are paired with high ranking Therian officers. The intention of THIRDS is to promote justice for all species.Dex joins the Des [...]

    12. 4.5--Cuddly Cats--Stars!!It's no small secret I don't really care for paranormal.or suspense for that matter! But The third book in this series kept popping up on my feed so I thought.why not?!And I must say, I really liked this one. It's rather paranormal-lite which worked great for me. Sloane and company are shifters, aka therians. They shift to cats, which I found cute and cuddly. Yes it was a bit heavier on the suspense than I prefer and not heavy enough on the romance. But the banter amongs [...]

    13. Finished re-reading it on Nov 3, 2014Listened to the audio book. Love the narrator's voice :) Ash's voice is just OMG! LMAO!This was sooooo freaking awesome!!! Thx Charlie for introducing us to tough and sexy Dex and Sloane. THIRDS is a kickass series and those guys from Destructive Delta Unit Alpha don't need to fear some has-been heros. Rest in peace, T&Z. :)

    14. I'll get to my review of the book in a bit!First some facts, though, because I was confused when I started this book. The world build behind this book and the continuing series is extensive and very impressive. Take a look for yourselfirdshq/Therians - are humans that have shapeshifting abilities. Why Therian I thought? Well, there are Humans and Therians. HumaniTherians. Humanitarian. When I realized that, it was a great name! THIRDS - the Therian-Human Intelligence, Recon, Defense, Squadron.Tha [...]

    15. ~ ~ ~I hope the beautiful and lovely Charlie Cochet will forgive me for skimping on my review of Hell & Highwater, because it absolutely deserves a full review. But life, you know? So, for Charlie:You did GOOD!For everyone else:I LIKE it a lot!Hurrrrry quick, run right off and get your hands on this new series. The guys are delicious, the action is intense, and the humor is a great addition to a shifter story. I predict Dex will be an instant classic!Best of all is the world that Charlie has [...]

    16. First read: March 2015Reread: February 2016 – BR with Trisha~~~~~I LOVED this book! L.O.V.E.D. it!!!The most important thing here is the excellent world building, which is very complicated and extensive. For a closer look, this is the official THIRDS site, which is really freaking awesome!!! It contains everything from details on the characters, to playlists, badges, and other fun stuff! But, for the purpose of shedding some light on what I'm going to write about in this review, here's a short [...]

    17. AWESOME SAUCE!I loved this!!! It was amazing.5 HumaniTherian HOT LOVIN’ STARS!!! This worked extremely well for me! I loved everything!!! The story, the characters, Dex! Sloane! Therians, Destructive Delta, Cael, Tony, everyone and everything! I even liked how evil the antagonist was! Everything was awesome. I actually DEVOURED this book!I would like to applaud the author’s imagination. I loved how she build up the story (the prologue) and how she created a world parallel with the current ti [...]

    18. Most frustrating about this book is the wasted potential, it has an interesting premise and a strong start promising great things. The prologue gave an interesting concise explanation of the verse clearing the way for the story, unfortunately that isn't how it continued. We're introduced to Dex a tough honourable cop with a decade worth of experience, he's highly skilled, has something to stand for, and is being persecuted by his fellow cops. It promised tension. Cover certainly suggests a seriou [...]

    19. 2.5 stars rounded up.I was underwhelmed by this book. The romance was weak, and the mystery weaker. The idea of Therians and the THIRDS was interesting, but it wasn't enough.I don't usually like characters meant to provide comic relief—much less when it's the protagonist—so I wasn't very fond of Dex. Even though he started out as a hard-as-nails cop with integrity and high ethics, he soon became a man-child who didn't take anything seriously, and as a result, he came across as inconsistent, [...]

    20. 2.5 ratingI believe that I'm not the target audience for this book. If you like comic books, superheroes or superagents, The Avengers, The X-men and it's mutants, and especially Agents of Shields, you will like this book. I didn't. I do like my shifters, paranormals, steampunk and Sci-fy, especially if they are combined with romance, but this story wasn't that. It read more like an action movie script with techie language, and some funny banter. Only after 50% of the story was I able to like the [...]

    21. This was my very first shifters/ paranormal book. I normally don't read these kind of books but after a few recommendations of some people whoms opinion I trust, I gave this one a try. And boy am I glad that I did. This book was awesome !! I loved the suspence.e hot alpha mene sexual tension. I have a serious crush on Sloane and Dex made me pee my pants laughinghe was so fucking funny. I cant wait to see what happens next. This book was not high on the romance, but since the storyline was so goo [...]

    22. Re-read July 10 2016I still love these guys. ❤❤❤--------------------Original review:Buddy read with the wonderful Elsbeth! This book was awesome!!We had hot government agents, great world building, shifters, and hot hot hot man sex. What’s not to like!I love Dex. He was so much fun.I was a bit hesitant to like Sloane at first because he behaved like an ass, but he quickly came around. And now I love him too. I want a Sloane of my own please. Now on to the next. I can't wait for more Dex an [...]

    23. I loved this book!Dex was so freaking awesome and funny. He made me laugh out loud :D and I do not care that some people gave just a star, dnf or whateverr me the story was amazing. I can’t wait to read more!

    24. An amazing promising start to a new wonderful series. There is already so many good stuff here, but there is even more potential, and I am really looking forward to reading more.Let’s start with the best thing that ever happened in a book: Dex. He is the most perfect character I’ve come upon in a very long time. He is super funny and geeky, super smart and intelligent, and totally loving and considerate. I want him in my life and never let go of him. I love him to death. He is the heart of th [...]

    25. I'm on board for this ride. The read had me laughing in more than a few places and I'm interested to see what's going on with all the characters.(view spoiler)[For a no fraternization rule I suspect there's more than a few teammates uhmatting. ;) We'll see how this plays out. (hide spoiler)]

    26. This is incredible!!!!I am so flipping happy with this new series. It is absolutely amazing, and I could not be any more excited to see that the sequel is already scheduled for August…and yes, I will be reviewing that one too. This is my first Charlie Cochet book, but guaranteed not to be my last. This book alone will put her on my auto-buy list.Wake up, people, there is an awesome new series out, and I already know this is going to be one that is talked about, have groups made of it, and will [...]

    27. Amazing Amazing Amazing!!! I wish I could give this book more than 5 stars, it deserves 10! This story was fast, moving, exciting, funny, sexy! It has cops, shifters, a great team and amazing chemistry between the two MC’s. This apparently is the first installment in a new series, and OMG I can’t wait to read more!! Give me more! My friends there are new heroes in town and they are called THIRDS - Therian Human Intelligence Recon Defense Squadron. This is an elite government agency consistin [...]

    28. Reasons I held off reading this:-The hype. Sometimes I'm wary of books that come sooo highly recommended.-I don't typically like mystery/suspense.Because there are so many books to catch up to in this series I figured I'd give the audio a shot. Final feelings:-The hype is deserved.-The story has great banter, snark, and ust.-The mystery aspect didn't bore me- it actually kept me engaged.-Love the narrator (his voice is sexy af!)! He did a superb job!Highly recommended! 4 Stars!Onto (Audio) Book [...]

    29. What a rush. Easy 4.5 stars. I had my doubts, but in the end I just loved this book. The major characters, supporting characters, world-building, workplace dynamics, sex, action--all first rate. Dex, Dex, Dex--let me count the ways. Best of all is the writing, so smart, and absolutely crackling with energy. One especially admirable aspect, considering this is technically a shifter story, is that every character has more depth than you're initially led to expect; none of them (except perhaps the [...]
