    1. Rated 3.5 - Review courtesy of my new lifestyle site, The Zest Quest. Print book purchasedAIN THREATS by Alison Stone is an unusual suspenseful romance between a widowed Amish woman and a college professor who researches the Amish ways of life for his articles and classes. This isn’t your standard Amish suspense plot either so it held my interest.I’ve begun to love Amish Suspense books, Amish and Suspense being two characteristics in romance that I didn’t think would mix as well as they do [...]

    2. Though the lead character Rebecca was Amish the rest of the story around her was anything but. She keeps maintaining her faith and community allegiance but continually puts herself in everyone else's care but her Amish community; and that seemed off to me. I also found the writing style a bit repetitive.

    3. BACK OF THE BOOK BLURBRebecca Fisher's life was turned upside down when her husband was accused of murder and died in prison. Now, more than a year later, someone is reminding the Amish widow that all hasn't been forgiven. But Rebecca isn't about to pay for the sins of someone else's past. So when the threats escalate and her rebellious stepson starts keeping secrets, Rebecca turns to former army ranger Jake Burke for help. She knows the Englisher is an honorable man, but being around him rattle [...]

    4. Maybe 3 1/2. A nice sweet book with, for me, three drawbacks [WARNING - MILD SPOILERS AHEAD]:1. It was pure "formula" - hunky man saves beautiful, but helpless, female.2. It was awfully convenient how, whenever the female protagonist would get in trouble, the male protagonist showed up [this being a "religious" series, the author would say it was the Grace of God, and she may be right].3. Ms. Stone forgot one of the cardinal rules for those of us who like mysteries - "If there is a character in [...]

    5. Mystery once again prevails in Alison Stones book Plain Threats. Rebecca Fisher enlists professor Jake Burke to find out what is going on with her step son. Unable to get answers from Jake about Samuel she must rely on herself to find out. Someone has been threatening her family after her husband died in prison. Unsure who it is she finds out that something was planted on her farm against her knowledge and is illegal. Going out to take care of the problem she is knocked out. Many other things ha [...]

    6. A subtle yet relentless suspense creates a looming sense of foreboding that lingers on every page. In her quest to help her stepson, Rebecca unwittingly starts a chain of events that threaten not only their safety but their already rocky standing in the community as well. Tension exudes from a forbidden romance as Englischer Jake's involvement throws the two together amidst danger and mystery. The plot twists that ensued made for a pretty compelling read.

    7. "While Rebecca is a familiar character from a previous book, there are some unusual twists that are uncommon in Amish-themed novels, making this a delightful read. The characters remind the reader that struggles are present and real, and forgiveness of self is important in order to make a fresh start" (RT Book Reviews, 4 stars).

    8. LOVED this story, Caught my attention right away. I couldn't stop readying!!! There was so much going on it was crazy and then to find out the truth about everything, WOW. I was blown away. Would totally recommend this to my friends!!!

    9. Violence is in the Amish community and Rebecca's family seems to be blamed for it because of her dead husband's past. With the help of a professor with an Amish past, Jake, they must prove who is responsible and why these acts are happening.

    10. Diciamo 4 e 1/2 Però mi piace come scrive la Stone e mi sono affezionata ad Apple Creek. Per fortuna nei prossimi mesi usciranno altri due libri!

    11. This story is about an Amish widow & a college professor with an Amish background. It involves danger & crime. Great story.
