I did notice myself rooting for these people as "characters" even though I knew they were real people. There were many struggles and hardships in the lives of this family. 2. Just an excellent read! Traces lives of single -parent family of 7 kids with only their mom. You will learn about their ancestors who immigrated from Norway and this family's struggles through childhood. Alternating short stories tell the family written in letters with current happenings from the oil fields of Dickinson, North Dakota.

    4. What an incredible experience. As the pages turn it pulls you in more and more. Thank you for sharing yours and your families story Norma.
