    1. Appears to be written more for command-level folks than foot soldiers or civilians caught in the crossfire. Some good historical points but I took great issue with the fact that he wrote out some dialogue (a guy explaining 4th gen at a meeting/presentation with top brass) as though it actually happened, instead of indicating "this is how many of these meetings play out" His editor really should have steered him away from any semblance of intellectual dishonesty.

    2. A lot of military examples and specific military training suggestions that won't apply to a standard civilian's life, but a lot of the global concepts can be applied to a lot of how you operate in the world, especially as a public persona. It changed my way of thinking based on the concepts, what I need and how to win long term. Well worth the quick read.

    3. Lind's ideas are innovative and make senseTerrorism at home and Other, domestic developments point toward Fourth Generation war within a growing number of states. As citizens transfer their primary loyalty away from the state, two recipients of that loyalty are also likely bases for Fourth Generation war. The first is gangs, which are becoming more powerful all over the world. Many are successful if illegal economic enterprises, which means they have the money for war. How we approach adversarie [...]

    4. An Interesting Quick ReadLind has some reasonable-seeming points to make about fighting counter-insurgency wars in a modern environment. The purpose of this book is to provide a broad outline for how a present-day Western military might be reorganized to gift a modern (or "fourth generation") war and in this it succeeds. However, I'd argue that it's a little too locked-in the solution preferred by the authors - the use of a light-footprint embedded force and that it doesn't give full considerati [...]

    5. Its an ok book which provides an overview for how leaders can get their units ready for 4GW. I like the stories, but would of liked a detailed explaination in the beginning of the book on how we got to 4GW. There is a quick discussion but a more detailed explanation would have reminded the readers of why we are at a 4GW today and how future wars will continue take this form of warfare over 2 or 3GW. This would of set the foundation to the rest of the book and its instruction to leaders at the ta [...]

    6. War. War always changes. Our enemies learn and adapt, and we must do the same or lose. To achieve true victory, which exists just as much on the moral level as on the strategic, belligerents must emulate David rather than Goliath. A short, no-nonsense read which shows that war is not an extension of politics, but rather politics is an extension of war.

    7. Good handbook for company level and below. Clear and easy reading book. Unfortunately, as Liddell Hart used to say: it's more difficult to take off an old idea from a military mind than setting a new one on it.
