    1. Loved the title. Loved the book! First, I would like to thank the publisher for allowing me the opportunaty to read this book. It's a complex and convoluted tale in some respects. It doesn't neatly fall into any one mystery genre. I thought by the book description that it was going to be an English village cozy. Yes, there is an English village (Dartcross in beautiful Devonshire) and yes, there is a murder that a bunch of ladies of senior years sets out to solve, led by one brilliant novelist. B [...]

    2. 3.5 stars. The Demented Lady Detectives' Club is a bit of a tongue in cheek murder mystery. There are actually many mentions in the story to Agatha Christie and Miss Marple, which the main character Janet did actually remind me ever so slightly of Miss Marple.I did find it quiet intriguing how a woman who is struggling with her memory manages to solve a murder. It does make for good reading though. Janet certainly seems out of sorts with her life. She tragically lost her only daughter and seems t [...]

    3. The Demented Lady Detectives Club by Jim Williams is a crazy little book full of extraordinary characters. There’s Diana, a dedicated journal keeper, who thinks she has early-stage Alzheimer’s and that Boss, her husband, is a murderer. Janet, a mid-list crime novelist who loves building stories based on her friends’ foibles, and Belle who hopes one day to be a rich widow after the solicitors have wound up her husband’s estate. The three ladies, together with the doubtful help of their re [...]

    4. Great idea for a book, but unfortunately the style in which was written made it difficult for me to complete the book. However, the style and the story may suit someone else.

    5. There are two narrative strands in this novel. One is written from the point of view of a woman with a colourful past, which she attempts to record before dementia hits and her memory goes. She remains unnamed until near the end. The other strand focuses on Janet Bretherton, a widow who we first met in The English Lady Murderers' Society.Janet now lives in a small town in Devon where she is starting to make friends and find a way to live on her own. In this novel, as in the previous one, we are [...]

    6. A body has been found near the small village of Dartcross and Janet is determined to figure out who killed him. At first glance, The Lady Detective's Club looks like a cozy mystery about a group of batty women that like to solve crimes, but this book is much more than that. The characters all have depth and are not exactly who they appear to be. The plot unfolds through alternating chapters from the two primary points of view. On one hand, we follow Janet, a mystery writer, ferret out clues whil [...]

    7. The Demented Lady Detectives' Club was a thoughtful and well written story that kept my attention. It had well thought out characters and interesting dialogue. Jim Williams did a wonderful job writing interwoven storylines that merged to form a suspenseful story. The setting was realistic and provided the perfect backdrop for these characters. I liked the pace of the novel. It allowed the suspense to build and for me to understand the people involved. I enjoyed seeing women that had experienced [...]

    8. The Demented lady detectives' club by Williams. I found this to be a romp in the park of England where little old ladies solve murder mysteries. I wasn't sure who the second POV was but I think she was solved in the end. There's the rambunctious Belle who's good at ferreting out the clues of a death for Janet, the other POV who doesn't do much writing but works things out. The Russian mafia are explored and each person is tied in at the end. There's another death at the end and Janet is not sure [...]

    9. This book was really strange. It takes some time to get into it, then I wasn't sure if I wanted to finish it. But I did.I think it's written for people who like cozy mysteries but it's anything but that. It seems to me that it was written to appeal to high brow types who then try to make conversations about what it really means. If it means something, I sure didn't get it, and I don't think anyone else will either.I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
