1 thought on “Squishy Taylor and the Bonus Sisters”

    1. I've already read the first six books in the Squishy Taylor series but when the opportunity arose to revisit where her story began I jumped at the chance. It's been almost two years (wow, that’s flown!) since I first discovered Squishy in my local library and I wanted to know if she was still as adorable as I remembered. Of course she was!I love Squishy. I love her bonus sisters (twins Jessie and Vee). I love her baby brother. I love her Mum, her Dad and her bonus Mum. I love all of the extra [...]

    2. I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review. This sounded really interesting, a girl whose nickname is Squishy, and who is a ninja-detective. Plus the cover looked good. I just had to try it out.A big fat -1 star for the revenge stuff they did/wanted to do on their grumpy neighbour. They made a site, youtube stuff (good job on getting evidence that you are the culprits, really kids are so stupid at times). Not only that, but their revenge ideas are just disgusting and terr [...]

    3. When "Squishy" Taylor moves in with her dad and his new wife, she has to share a room with her older stepsisters. They're twins and don't get along with Squishy, but her dad wants her to think of them as the "bonus" sisters. It seems like the three of them are never going to get along until they discover a boy in the basement. He's hiding from his dad and wants them to keep his location a secret. There's nothing like sharing a secret to bring three girls together, but secrets also bring the risk [...]

    4. I'm lucky enough to get to read many children's books in my various roles, and even luckier to sometime sget review copies.I hadn't me Squishy previously, but I will now be looking out for her. She's very excellent, and I love that her life's not perfect, and that she's not perfect either. She's very accessible and likeable. The bonus sisters are step-family, and the blended nature of Squishy's family is well handled - not too goody-goody, not too patronising, not too 'read this it will be good [...]

    5. I really liked Squishy Taylor and the story line. I think elementary schoolers would really like this, especially those adjusting to a newly blended family. I really liked the personalities of the characters.

    6. I highly recommend this series! The books are all very enjoyable, relatable, and FUN. The illustrations are the perfect icing on the cake, and definitely what drew me in for that first look.

    7. I loved this quirky story - very PC but great fun as well. There was adventure, mystery, humour AND strong, likeable female characters. Also like the vocabulary! I also LOVED the illustrations! 4.5stars! Us already a hit in our Library and after reading this, I will buy more copies. I hope it makes the CBCA Shortlist.

    8. A customer bought this book for her daughter and another as a gift for a friend. She returned the gift one (the own one had been used, well, read). She thought it was a book that we shouldn't be selling - it has unsuitable language and has the girls planning revenge on a nasty neighbour. She agreed that these things are quite normal, but said that's the reason they shouldn't be in books. The books should have things we aspire to (she may not have used those specific words). I gave her a refund [...]

    9. Great fun book for 7-10 year olds. Squishy is a fun, interesting individual who has no idea that limits exist. If she thinks she can, she does. What a breath of fresh air Squishy Taylor is.Like any kid she is inquisitive and adventurous and wants to get to the bottom of any situation. She is strong in her beliefs and stands up for people in her life she loves. Squishy's mum lives overseas and in this first story we see her coming to terms with her new family situation - a new step-mum and bonus [...]

    10. Wild writes a smart, snappy story with humour and good grace. The relationships feel authentic and believable. She tackles typical childhood concerns like belonging, lying and sharing. This is a big city story, with families living in apartments and catching Melbourne trams to school. Rock climbing play-dates are arranged for the weekends.Wood captures Squishy's energy and enthusiasm to a teed her flyaway hair!bronasbooks/20
