    1. These short stories from the 1950's by the author of the SF Classic "Canticle for Leibowitz" range from very good to OK. A number of them, like many others in that era, use a nuclear holocaust/plague situation and its effects both immediate and far in the future. According to the Introduction of this edtion, Miller was not religious, but many stories (like "Canticle") show an influence of the Roman Catholoism he grew up in theme and setting.
