    1. I didn't expect this story to unfold the way it did! I found it difficult to discern who he was talking to (the dog? His mom?), and the book was all but done before he explained that Nicole is his mom. Why does he call her Nicole instead of Maman? In any case, I think that with more character development and a lot more filler, this would have made an interesting novel for a preteen to read.
