    1. Well, I can't say I wasn't warned. I went into this story with low expectations and it mostly met them. The first and most obvious defect is the tired "Planet of the Women"/"Battle of the Sexes" setup. I'm not entirely sure what writer Philip Martin was driving at with this - I think he's actually trying to send up both male chauvinists and radical feminists by creating obnoxious straw-man versions of both, but it just doesn't work. (Even a line that I rather liked, where Peri remarks that she c [...]

    2. I read the book as a kid and I'm glad they never made it on TV. And the Audio confirms that fact all rather silly Even Sil is a let down. 4.5/10

    3. Nabil Shaban almost singlehandedly rescues this play with a sumptuously slimy performance as Sil – it’s a shame Big Finish haven’t made more use of him as the vocal tics and gurgling laugh mean he’s ideally suited to audio. We’ve also got Colin Baker giving it his all as usual. Unfortunately they’re wasted on what would’ve been Philip Martin’s worst script for the series. Quite aside from the limp material with the Doctor’s school bully (which could’ve been entirely cut witho [...]

    4. What happens when you combine a modern audio drama with 1980s sci-fi sexism? THIS STORY!The script for this episode was written in the 80s, and the "making of" snippet at the end shows that the cast and crew were aware of the problems relating to the sexism of the storyline, but decided to go ahead anyway. Which is a shame, because they were so close to having something good, if not for the ending! The Doctor and Peri arrive on a planet ruled by women, where men hide underground, away from the s [...]

    5. Based on another scrapped season 23 script, Mission to Magnus brings The Doctor and Peri Brown to a world that the Ice Warriors want to re-position further from its sun so that it is colder. The Doctor also faces a Time Lord from his academy days. I like the fact that it is not The Master as one would expect. This time, it is Anzor, a bully who used to make The Doctor do his homework. One familiar voice is that of Sil, the Mentor from season 22 serial Vengeance on Varos. The voice-over work is g [...]

    6. Proof that not all of the original season 23 needed to be resurrected, "Mission to Magnus" is a jumbled mess with too many ingredients and too little plot. The starting point was good - psychic amazons trying to acquire time travel and ruling over boys that cannot survive on the surface - but it soon gets lost among the antics of Sil, the return of the Ice Warriors as generic baddies rather than a noble culture, and the usual tune of running in corridors and being caught/escaping.And we meet a T [...]

    7. Sadly, this is a rather poor sequel to Vengeance on Varos. Nabil Shaban is absolutely fantastic in his return as Sil, and if it weren't for him or the Ice Warriors, I'd write this story off completely. The 'battle of the sexes' subplot is utterly bizarre and varies between being farcical and being offensive. A whole bunch of characters are such caricatures of both extreme misogynists and misandrists that I'm constantly reminded of Poe's Law.Ultimately, I'm very glad we ended up seeing Mindwarp on [...]

    8. The Doctor and Peri get fooled by the Doctor's school bully. They get involved with a planet ruled by women, with men being a lesser species. Sil is also there, trying to make a profit. The women want the Time Lords to help attack their rival planet which is mostly male. This is part of the lost stories series written in the 80s. And boy, is it dated. It's a decent story with some fun moments, mainly with Sil. A good listen.

    9. It starts out kinda neat with s and such but goes tits up about when the ice warriors show up. The Doctor for some reason seems to be stuck on making a point of trusting dumb luck. For whatever reason, a lot of the actors sound like they are reading the script for the first time as they go. And lastly, it ends up *Slight spoiler* being a nice big victory for mysogyny. Pretty much it's only Sil saving this from being total poo.

    10. This was definitely originally an 80's script, but even beyond that, I thought that some of the plot points were non sequiturs or left unresolved and that some of the secondary characters were acted somewhat poorly.

    11. There are not enough adjectives in the English language to describe just how monumentally bad this recording is. Bad points: mostly everythingGood points: the voice of the Grand Marshall is done reasonably well. And the Big Finish artwork is nice.

    12. The Doctor and Peri end up on a planet where Sil is trying to broker a peace between a time lord and a planet of power hungry women. While trying get away the 2 discover that the planet is being taken over by the Ice Warriors. Can the doctor and Peri stop the Ice Warriors? Find out.
