    1. Celia and Colin, the main characters in this novel, are smart, kind, down to earth people Colin is the consummate warrior, and Celia is sassy and resourceful this was the first novel I read by this author, and still my favorite of all of hers many characters are introduced here which are later spun off into their own stories the time period is Scotland of the 1500's, if I recall correctly and the story involves royal secrets LOL don't they all? but yeah, i liked this one

    2. A warm and wonderful story set in 16th century Scotland from the talented husband/wife team who write as May McGoldrick. This was one of the first books I edited, and I am just as proud of the fact that I got the book a lovely cover.

    3. I really loved the first half of the book. It was exciting and romantic and everything one hopes for in a Highland tale. Actually, it would have been fine for me to end there and I would have been completely satisfied and given the story at least a 4. For me, the last half of the book was like an attempt to match holes in history and fill pages. I still enjoyed it and will continue with the series.

    4. The thistle and the roseThe thistle and the rose is a wonderful read omg it has it all adventures love so much is happening it's awesome

    5. I liked the premise, the idea of the characters, and the setting, but I was never able to become invested in any of it, to the extent that when the heroine was struck from behind, I didn't care enough about her to keep reading. Some readers may enjoy the chopping back and forth from one character's point of view to another, but I found it frustrating and annoying, and I was pulled out of the story when a minor character was given a paragraph to comment on what was going on; this intruded on the [...]

    6. I loved this story! Celia, the strong, passionate, tigress defending and honoring the duty she was bound to protect. Colin, the ever sexy, hardened highland warrior is a dream for any woman. The two of these together formed a bond of love, loyalty, and progress for their community. Truly a great read that keeps you enthralled and on the edge of your seat!

    7. This is my fourth May McGoldrick in two weeks. I started by reading the Highland Treasure Trilogy after trying to hunt down Tess and the Highlander (one my favorite avon romances) and discovering the author(s) had made the book as part of a great huge "series", where each book stands alone (save the trilogy) but includes characters that are all part of the family tree. It's completely unnecessary to read any of these in order, but it's fun to know that there are more and more books and that thos [...]

    8. There are lots of ideas here which result in the story getting sidetracked at times. I was often confused about who was talking or thinking because the writing shifted between first person and third person. However, it was an exciting, adventurous story set during a brutal time in Scottish history. I wasn't convinced that the hero and heroine actually fell in love but it was good enough. The dog was introduced but not taken fully advantage of. I liked it and will try the next in the series.

    9. Awesome story, filled with action, romance and emotion. The book started off with a compelling scene midst an English attack on Caithness Hall, where Celia had to flee with a baby she adopted as her own. On the run for a crazed fiancé, she is forced to marry on King's orders, she ends up in Kildalton Castle, on the far West of Scotland, where she meets Colin Campbell, son of Laird Campbell, who gave residence to her while waiting for the Warlike storm to pass.Tangled in a web of secrecy, politi [...]

    10. A Scottish historical romance, heavy on the historical part. Interesting story -- the young king being kingnapped for his own safety. Always someone wishing that someone else would die back in those days -- anyway, Celia Muir takes the baby, escapes to a remote castle, meets Colin Campbell, falls head over heels, and on it goes from there. Lots of bloody battles and other bloodiness ensues. BUT -- love prevails, and the king?? You'll have to read it.

    11. Thistle & The RoseThe five stars represent the superb development of characters, storyline, romantic flair and steady flow of the book. I feel the book is appropriate for 18 and over adults due to the steamy love scenes. I loved the dialogue with Colin and his best friend Alec. It seemed very realistic. Loved the sense of humor amongst the other main characters and found myself laughing on occasion. Very good read.

    12. A great story about love & freedom !I fell in love with Colin MacPherson & Celia Muir as they fell in love with each other. They were the perfect couple to build the story of Scotland's freedom around brave warriors fighting for their homeland and for each other to live together in peace & love. Well written story with battles, intrigue, suspense, &a happily ever after love. A must-read.

    13. 356pgs, Historical, Assigned the mission of protecting the infant King James V from the approaching British army, Celia Muir must use her feminine wiles to convince Scottish warrior Colin Campbell to help her escape into the Scottish highlands.
